Roubaix

Roubaix, a city of nearly 100,000 residents, is one of the youngest cities in France. With almost 50% of its population under 30, the youth of Roubaix is a real and valuable asset to the city. Its geographical location at the gateway to Europe, along with its openness to international cultures, is also an advantage, as seen in its numerous and diverse twin cities, cross-border exchanges, privileged partnerships, and cultural and sports exchanges.

This mission offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the development of youth projects in Roubaix, working within the DGRVV – the city’s Youth Directorate. As a volunteer, you will engage in local initiatives aimed at enhancing youth involvement, fostering inclusion, and promoting cultural and educational activities.

This position is exclusively open to citizens of North Macedonia, as part of a special program supporting the twinning partnership between Roubaix and Skopje. This initiative aims to strengthen cultural and collaborative ties between the two cities, facilitating an exchange of ideas and experiences between the French and Macedonian communities.

Missions principales

The main activities to be carried out by the volunteer:

  • Maintain a professional watch on all aspects of funding and opportunities for international projects, with a view to sharing them. Capitalising on resources.
  • Relations with twinned towns :
    • Joint projects: collaboration on the development, monitoring and promotion of cultural and sporting exchange projects involving young people and local residents.
    • Exchanges: working together to develop individual and group international exchanges.
    • Seeking funding for projects and mobility.
  • Support for international projects
    • Collaboration with the ADICE association and other services
    • Developing collective and individual projects
    • Call for Projects and project funding watch
    • Support in writing and appraising responses to calls for projects and funding
    • Providing consultancy services to the Town Hall’s internal and external departments (associations, social centres, etc.) on projects with an international dimension.
    • Youth Olympics (Skopje 2025): contribution, exchanges, organisational support mission
  • Promoting international mobility among young people
    • Partnership with the Adice association
    • Presence at major youth events
    • In conjunction with the Youth Department.
  • Participation in Erasmus projects
    • Contribute to the development of projects
    • Promoting opportunities to schools and colleges (ambassador)
    • Consulting services for project developers, in conjunction with the Department

Profil recherché

Desired training:
– Knowledge of thematic, public and private schemes
– Minimum Bachelor studies

Desired professional/associate experience(s): –
– Experience in project management in a local authority or association environment
– Experience in leading and coordinating groups
– Skills in managing public and private thematic schemes, as well as local authority players
– Project methodology, ability to write and prepare proposals

Main skills and abilities required:
– Languages required, spoken, understood and written: French, English.
– Ability to work, analyse, organise and work independently
– Strong sense of teamwork
– Writing skills (quality of writing, culture of writing) and ability to report back
– Proficiency in IT tools (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Internet)
– Organisational skills and thoroughness
– Ability to make proposals, take initiatives and work independently on the tasks assigned
– Ability to lead groups, run meetings and coordinate various players
– Ability to mobilise and unite teams and partners around projects
– Versatility and flexibility, open-mindedness and adaptability
– Collaborative spirit and ability to work in a team and network
– Active professional monitoring and ability to disseminate the information gathered.

Language(s) required and level: Fluency in written and spoken English. Good command of French, both spoken and written; some flexibility is envisaged for candidates motivated to improve their language skills during the assignment.

Informations complémentaires

Normal working hours, weekly rest days: The working week is 35 hours, spread over a 4.5-day week (9.00am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 5.00pm). There is, however, a degree of flexibility to adapt working hours if necessary, in consultation with the host organisation. The weekly rest period is set at Saturday and Sunday, with the possibility of adapting this to suit current municipal events. In exceptional cases, the rest periods may be staggered, subject to compliance with the statutory hours. The volunteer may also be required to take part in events or evenings, with recoverable hours depending on the needs of the department.

Business travel required: Within the city of Roubaix and the MEL, in the region. In the event of exceptional travel further afield as part of the projects, the volunteer will always be accompanied.

 

Condition

  • Status of Volunteers for International Solidarity (2005 law);
  • Installation allowance and resettlement allowance on return;
  • Monthly subsistence allowance (€850): this allowance does not constitute a salary or remuneration, and enables you to carry out your assignment in decent living conditions;
  • Basic social security cover (sickness, maternity, invalidity, accidents at work and old age), mutual insurance, repatriation insurance, provident insurance and civil liability);
  • The accommodation is organised and paid for by the project; it is individual and offers decent comfort (furnished, bathroom, private kitchen, single room).
  • Travel expenses 1 return trip between place of residence and place of employment.
