Celia, EU Aid Volunteers in Bolivia

I studied psychology and international development cooperation. This EU Aid Volunteers mission suited me because it allowed me to combine my two professions. I had already lived in Latin America and the prospect of returning to this continent attracted me a lot.

As part of my EU Aid Volunteers mission, I worked in the NGO Munasim Kullakita Foundation which is an organization of experts at the national level on human trafficking. For years, the Foundation has been working with women under the age of 18 and young victims of trafficking or sexual violence who are traded in the country.

My work consists of providing certain therapies, conducting psychological assessments, and applying empathic listening techniques. I also support the work of the association in the field of social work. I do medical accompaniments and family integration outings. In addition, I participate once a week in a program funded by the UNHCR with Venezuelan refugees, to whom I provide psychological support. Each day is different and requires an adaptation to the needs.

I think it’s a great experience for me because it gives me the opportunity to be able to do things I never imagined. Without a doubt, I would recommend the program to anyone who wants to do community engagement work, away from family and comfort.
