Pedagogical guide on mental health promotion practices

MINDMental HealthSanté MentaleYouth

As part of the Erasmus+ MIND project, a pedagogical guide was created to support professionals in promoting young people’s mental well-being. It is aimed at anyone who wants to create a healthy, caring, and emotionally supportive environment.

The guide is available in six languages. It provides simple, practical methods that are easy to apply. Thanks to these tools, professionals can help young people build emotional resilience, foster open conversations, and develop inclusive group practices.

Key topics covered in the guide

The guide is structured around several key areas. Each one offers concrete actions to support well-being.

  • Talking openly about mental health: Use inclusive and positive language. Avoid stereotypes and reduce stigma. For example, using everyday words can make mental health more approachable.
  • Creating safe and supportive spaces: Set up welcoming environments that allow young people to express themselves, both in-person and online.
  • Encouraging emotional regulation: Provide easy-to-use tools and activities that help young people name, express, and manage their emotions.
  • Supporting adaptive skills: Introduce daily rituals or group routines that strengthen mental balance and coping abilities.
  • Promoting well-being during mobility: Prepare young people before they travel, support them while abroad, and guide them through their return.

A practical tool to integrate well-being into youth support

This guide is suitable for all types of organisations, regardless of their field or audience. It follows a positive and preventive approach to mental health. Moreover, it complements existing tools by providing practical strategies. These help build trust-based relationships and support young people in their personal and social development.

A second complementary guide is also available. It focuses on the prevention of mental health disorders.
