Toolkit: “Equality, Diversity and Inclusion”
Download
Introduction
The Erasmus+ EDI GO project is continuing its efforts to encourage social inclusion, celebrate diversity and promote equality with the publication of a toolkit aimed at youth organisations!
In this toolkit you will find:
- A reference framework for integrating inclusion, diversity and equality into areas such as management and leadership, direct work with young people and the physical environment
- Self-assessment tools for each theme covered in the reference framework, to help you measure your progress
- A guide to inclusive language to help you adopt respectful and inclusive communication
The EDI GO Reference Framework
This reference framework aims to inspire youth organisations to improve their practices and, where appropriate, adopt new ones to ensure a more comprehensive approach to equality, diversity and inclusion. Furthermore, it provides the tools needed to adopt practices that address oppressive and discriminatory behaviour, as well as the unconscious biases present in the society in which young people live.
The framework explores five dimensions (management and leadership, physical environment, attitudes and relationships, community and partnerships, and direct work with young people), within which you will find, in particular, recommendations and best practices to inspire your thinking about your organisation’s inclusion work.
Self-assessment tool
A self-assessment questionnaire is available for each dimension of the Reference Framework. These enable each organisation to identify its strengths, areas for improvement and weaknesses in its inclusion practices.
Guide to Inclusive Language
The Guide to Inclusive Language provides recommendations for promoting the use of respectful and inclusive language in all communications. It offers a glossary, guiding principles and practical advice, as well as a table listing terms to avoid and terms to use, with explanations to encourage inclusive communication within youth organisations.
The EDI GO toolkit is a valuable resource for youth organisations wishing to promote inclusion and diversity. By providing recommendations, self-assessment tools and a guide to inclusive language, it offers comprehensive support for creating welcoming and respectful environments for all young people.
