Launching seminar of the EU Aid Volunteers Capacity Building PHASE Project
As part of the project PHASE – Platform on Humanitarian Aid for a Sustainable Empowerment ADICE hosted the launching seminar between the 9th and the 11th of May 2016. This project is funded by EU Aid Volunteers program, managed by the Executive Agency Education, Audiovisual and Culture DG ECHO and the European Commission.
The three European partners ADICE, MONDO and ASPEm have had the opportunity to share best practices of volunteering management and work on the contents of the training PHASE 1:
- Security: to ensure volunteers’ safety, how to act in a crisis and evacuation
- Needs Assessment: identify the real needs of the host organization, how volunteers can be involved and the skills requested to implement activities
- Logistics: tools and methods to ensure safety and avoid unpredictable situations
- Volunteering management: develop a common framework for the management of volunteers and ensure high quality management
The objective is to train the partner organizations acting in humanitarian context in the preparation and the monitoring of the volunteers during their activities with the local communities.
During the month of June there was Skype launching seminar with the other 11 partners from developing countries: Asociacion pro Derechos Humanos and Asociacion Pueblo Indigena en Accion Apu in Peru; Fundacion Munasim Kullakita in Bolivia; Human Rights Center Postup in Ukraine; Human Supporters Association in Palestine; International Volunteers for Social Development Association in Thaïland; Kongo Community Development Organisation in Ghana; Orissa State Volunteers and Social Workers Association in India; Uganda Pioneers Association in Uganda ; Volunteers Initiative Nepal in Nepal; Western Focus Community Organisation in Kenya. Thanks to these meetings the partners had the opportunity to know each other’s and discuss on the objectives and activities of the project.
During the coming months, the European orrganizations will build up the training session PHASE 1 with the support of Non EU organizations needs and attempts. Then, at the end of September another European working seminar will be realized to finalize this training PHASE 1 and the implementation of the first training for partners Human Rights Center Postup ( Ukraina ) and Human Supporters Association (Palestine) will be realized in Italy last week of September 2016.
