Volontariat en Équateur : construire un impact durable avec LO-CA
Le projet LO-CA, auquel l’ADICE participe dans le cadre du CES volet aide humanitaire, a pour objectif de soutenir des initiatives locales et durables auprès des communautés vulnérables en Équateur, en Inde et au Vietnam. Ce programme repose sur l’engagement de volontaires internationaux, dont les actions concrètes contribuent à répondre aux besoins locaux tout en favorisant les échanges interculturels. Zoom sur la mission de Leticia, volontaire Espagnole accompagnée par l’ADICE, à Otavalo, en Équateur.
Soutenir l’éducation et la communauté
Dans une école accueillant des enfants indigènes et métis âgés de 3 à 13 ans, Leticia accompagne les enseignants en proposant des activités adaptées aux besoins des plus jeunes. Création de fiches pédagogiques en anglais, ateliers de confiance, développement des compétences sociales et découverte de cultures locales et étrangères : chaque action est soigneusement préparée en collaboration avec les enseignants.
Lors de sa mission, Leticia a également mis en place une première action locale durable : l’introduction d’un système de recyclage dans l’école. En sensibilisant les enfants au tri des déchets, elle a jeté les bases d’une pratique utile et pérenne pour la communauté. Pour l’avenir, elle envisage de créer un potager collectif, impliquant les familles des élèves, pour renforcer l’autonomie alimentaire et les liens communautaires.
Immersion culturelle et enrichissement mutuel
L’immersion de Leticia dans une famille indigène d’Otavalo constitue une part essentielle de son intégration.
En partageant leur quotidien, elle a appris à reconnaître des mots en kichwa (langue indigène équatorienne) et à comprendre les traditions locales. Ces échanges enrichissants renforcent le lien entre volontaires et communautés, offrant à chacun une ouverture sur le monde.
Outre ses interactions avec la communauté, Leticia participe à des cours de salsa et explore la culture urbaine de Quito grâce au soutien du coordinateur local de Cielo Azul, partenaire de l’ADICE.
Une mission durable soutenue par le projet LO-CA
Le projet LO-CA se distingue par son approche durable. En collaboration avec des partenaires locaux comme VASE et Cielo Azul, il garantit un accompagnement sur mesure des volontaires et un soutien concret aux communautés. La préparation logistique en amont, les suivis réguliers et l’encouragement à créer des actions locales pérennes assurent un impact positif à long terme.

Volunteering in Ecuador: building a sustainable impact with LO-CA
The LO-CA project, in which ADICE participates as part of the ESC humanitarian aid strand, aims to support local and sustainable initiatives in vulnerable communities across Ecuador, India, and Vietnam. This programme relies on the commitment of international volunteers, whose concrete actions address local needs while fostering intercultural exchange. Let’s take a closer look at the mission of Leticia, a Spanish volunteer supported by ADICE, in Otavalo, Ecuador.
Supporting education and the community
At a school welcoming indigenous and mestizo children aged 3 to 13, Leticia works alongside teachers, offering activities tailored to the needs of the youngest pupils. She develops educational materials in English, organises confidence-building workshops, fosters social skills, and introduces children to local and foreign cultures. Each activity is carefully prepared in collaboration with the teaching staff.
During her mission, Leticia also initiated her first sustainable local action: introducing a recycling system at the school. By raising children’s awareness about waste sorting, she laid the foundation for a practical and long-lasting habit within the community. In the future, she envisions creating a collective vegetable garden involving students’ families to strengthen food autonomy and community bonds.
Cultural immersion and mutual enrichment
Living with an indigenous family in Otavalo has been a key part of Leticia’s integration.
By sharing their daily life, she has learned to recognise words in Kichwa (an indigenous Ecuadorian language) and to better understand local traditions. These enriching exchanges strengthen ties between volunteers and communities, offering mutual cultural understanding and personal growth.
In addition to her interactions with the community, Leticia participates in salsa classes and explores Quito’s urban culture, with the support of Cielo Azul’s local coordinator, a partner of ADICE.
A sustainable mission backed by the LO-CA project
The LO-CA project stands out for its sustainable approach. In collaboration with local partners such as VASE and Cielo Azul, it ensures tailored support for volunteers and tangible benefits for communities.
